Carlos Hathcock is a true American hero and warrior. But for all his valour on the battlefield, it is a testament to the breed that his greatest and most heroic feat was in saving his comrades from danger, at great physical cost to himself.

I was hoping someone would ID Hathcock. If you haven't already done so, go read his book "Marine Sniper". It will give you a new appreciation of what these guys go through (and convince you that the DC sniper is a rank amateur).
