Marine Corp rules for gunfighting?

Also found this gem over at American Realpolitik. I have no idea if it is real or not, but it is chock full of gun fighting wisdom. My favorite pointers:

- Someday someone may kill you with your own gun, but they should have to beat you to death with it because it is empty.

- Always tactical load and threat scan 360 degrees.

and my number 1 rule to live by (literally) is:

- Do not attend a gunfight with a handgun, the caliber of which does not start with a "4."

I don't even own a handgun the caliber of which does not start with "4". You decide what that means.

To me, it means you might need to go shopping.

I rarely target shoot anymore, my eyesight is fading, can't even read without my glasses. But when I thought about such things, I favored the 45cal. government model, or at best a shotgun. My friends always thought I was more than a little nuts, but my first choice was always an edged weapon. K-bar or some varient of Gerber, 6 to 8 inch blade, and I like the dark.

The most deadly weapon a man can wield is the one between his ears. Intimidation works very well.
